Boxaphobia

Claustrophobia

For the Boxaphobia brief, I decided to play with the idea of claustrophobia, but in a light-hearted way. Instead of going dark or serious, I imagined what it would be like if babies in the womb were claustrophobic. Tiny, anxious, and completely over it. The result is a playful illustration series that turns a common fear into something absurdly funny and oddly relatable.

The designs exaggerate the feeling of being “boxed in,” with expressive baby characters reacting dramatically to their cramped surroundings. The humour comes from the contrast between how calm we expect babies to be in the womb and how these ones clearly are not. It’s weird, a bit cheeky, but playful, exactly what I wanted for this brief.
